Having originally set up our own event exclusively for Partners in 2004 the show has grown substantially into a showcase for the entire industry.
It only seems like yesterday that former TGI chairman Ian Johnston and I arrived at the Harrogate International Centre with the idea of putting together a trade event purely for the group’s members and suppliers.
At that time we were supportive of the Marbella trade event, but lack of support from our approved suppliers made it difficult for us to continue our interest.
Things moved very quickly from there and the first TGI Golf Show was staged little more than a year later in Harrogate.
Within three years the format of the show changed with Foremost Golf bringing its own show so it ran back-to-back at Harrogate.
At TGI Golf we are constantly looking for ways of progressing and adding value for our Partners. After five years of running back-to-back shows we approached the PGA with the concept of an all-encompassing UK golf trade show, that would be open to all golf professionals registered with the PGA, and abolishing the independent group’s shows.
Following thorough discussions with (PGA Chief Executive) Sandy Jones, the Association’s Education Department and Paul Hedges (Foremost CEO), the foundations were laid for the current version of the show.
